Steps To Take if You Believe You Have a Cavity

Posted on 3/1/2024 by Weo Admin

Tooth decay causes damage to the outer coating of your tooth, commonly known as the enamel. Advanced stages of tooth decay will damage the inner layer of the tooth, known as dentin. Tooth cavities can be very uncomfortable, and you can quickly tell if you have them. You need to take action immediately if you feel like you have tooth cavities, but before that, it is important that you know the symptoms of tooth cavities.

Symptoms of a Tooth Cavity

The symptoms of tooth cavities depend on the depth and size of the cavity. It also depends on where the cavity is located in your mouth. At first, you might not experience any symptoms. But as the cavity gets more extensive, you will start experiencing mild symptoms of the condition. One of the common symptoms of tooth cavities is sensitivity. You will feel a sharp pain in your tooth whenever you eat hot or cold foods.

Furthermore, you will experience toothaches that happen without a warning. These toothaches will be excruciating, depending on the state of the cavity. There will also be holes or pits in your teeth. This is a common sign caused by the cavities digging up your teeth. The holes are painful, especially when exposed to hot or cold temperatures. When you have cavities, you will also feel pain when you bite down on food. After experiencing these symptoms and believing you have a tooth cavity, you must immediately act.

The Steps to Take

The first thing you need to do is get in touch with us. Let us know what you are feeling and the condition of your teeth. Our professionals will assess the symptoms and work on the way forward. You will then come in for a check-up and treatment. Cavities do not necessarily mean you will lose your tooth. We have several treatment options to put your tooth back in good shape. Visit our offices for more information on tooth cavities.
