What is a Porcelain Crown?
A crown is a device used to fully cover the entire visible portion of a tooth that is above your gumline. How are Tooth Crowns Placed?

Our dentists then create a mold of your teeth and bite using a dental impression paste or using a digital scanner. This impression is to make a custom-fit crown.
You will then receive an anesthetic to numb the tooth and surrounding gum tissue. For the entire procedure, you will feel only pressure but no pain. Our dentists will then use a dental drill to gently remove the outer surface of the tooth, which includes the top and all four sides. Our dentists then place a temporary crown on the top of your tooth while you wait for your permanent crown.
When you return to the office for your permanent crown, our dentists remove the temporary crown. The new crown is placed and adjusted so it will naturally fit between your neighboring teeth and to fit your bite. Finally, our dentists use a special cement to keep the crown firmly on the top of your tooth.
How Do I Care For My Porcelain Tooth Crowns?
Just as you would your natural teeth, routine flossing, brushing, and rinsing are all recommended to take care of your crowns. While crowns are all made from durable materials, there may be some foods you want to avoid after the procedure. Just like your natural teeth, it may be best to avoid extra sticky or hard foods that will damage the crown or the surrounding teeth.
